Poster book with instruction manual made from a "Method to lose weight" from the 60s purchased at the Tepico market in Mexico City.
I select the images from the manual where a woman uses books as weights. I intervene by sewing them with a red Ariadne thread. As the series progresses, the woman begins to throw herself on the floor in a chair, a superhuman effort she has to make to maintain her figure.
I propose one of the lists of personal progress instead of working on different parts of the body such as arms, thighs, I replace them with others such as: liberation, creation, appreciation (different attributes that women need to feel to get rid of body and social stereotypes constructed by the beauty ideals of white middle class women of the 60s).
I also propose crossing out words (seductive, thin, attraction, husband) in one of the manifestos where the woman is blamed for not remaining attractive enough for her husband to desire her.
The work is inside an old DVD box.
