CORPUS

CAL XERTA MUSEUM. SANT PERE DE RIUDEBITLLES. 2023
Corpus is an artistic series by Carmen Hurtado Pérez that explores the construction of identity, the fragmentation of the body and the universe of dreams. Using poems and images taken from her dream diaries, the artist builds a symbolic imaginary where the everyday and the irrational intertwine.

Bodies unfold, landscapes transform and spaces become scenes of memory and the unconscious. Nature and cement, pain and play, reality and fiction coexist in compositions that invite us to reflect on identity, vulnerability and the relationship with the other.

Through a poetic, asymmetrical and surreal visual language, Corpus proposes multiple readings in which the body, space and nature are constantly transformed.

The series culminates in a sea of islands, a symbol of a vital breath that creates all things.

The challenge is to decipher the symbols and discover the multiple interpretations that inhabit each work.
