"La práctica artística de Carmen Hurtado Pérez explora cómo la combinación de imágenes, palabras y materiales puede transformar relatos heredados y generar nuevas lecturas de la identidad y la libertad. A través del collage, el ensamblaje y el uso del hilo, construye un universo visual y poético en el que la fragmentación y las asociaciones simbólicas abren múltiples posibilidades de interpretación."
Carmen Hurtado Pérez is a visual artist and poet whose experimental practice explores the body, memory, and fundamental questions of the human condition. Belonging, freedom, visibility, and the search for new role models for women inform her most recent projects.
Collage and assemblage lie at the heart of her practice. By bringing together fragments, images, objects, and textiles, she creates multilayered compositions in which elements are displaced from their original contexts and acquire new meanings. Painting, drawing, printmaking, embroidery, and installation further expand this field of experimentation, shaping an artistic universe that weaves together references to mythology, art history, science, and symbolism.
Thread occupies a central place in her artistic language. It functions as line, writing, and connection, linking fragments and extending beyond the surface to take on a sculptural and spatial dimension.
In dialogue with poetry, myth, and dreams, her work creates a visual universe that is both dreamlike and experimental. As in poetic language, fragmentation, metaphor, and the disruption of linear narrative generate unexpected associations and open up multiple possibilities for interpretation.
To enter her work is to navigate a labyrinth of images and meanings, where losing one's way becomes a way of discovering new perspectives.
